Every piece counted. Every price tied to gold.
One stock and pricing system, run from a phone, in place of monthly spreadsheet copies.
3 commands, down from 171 models, one by one.
- Built for
- Nayiri Jewelry, a fine jewelry brand in Yerevan that sells online and in person, where what each piece costs moves with the price of gold.
- What we built
- One system that tracks every piece in stock, recosts the whole catalogue from the live gold price, and keeps the Shopify shop in line, all run from Telegram.
- Why
- Stock lived in a new spreadsheet copy every month, prices were worked out by hand, and Shopify had its own numbers. None of them matched.
What kept stock and prices out of step.
Stock nobody trusted
A new copy of the inventory spreadsheet every month, and separate numbers in Shopify. Neither matched the shelf, so “do we have this in gold?” meant going to look.
Counted stock, in one system
Every piece was physically counted in, by model, metal, size and location. Ask the bot for any piece and it lists what's on hand. Anything not yet counted is flagged for recount, so errors get caught instead of piling up.
Prices that fell behind the metal
Each price was worked out by hand: metal weight × gold price, plus labour and extras. Then it was typed into the spreadsheet, and again into Shopify, product by product. Across 171 models that rarely happened, so some prices fell behind the cost of the gold.
Prices tied to the live gold price
The system reads the Yerevan gold price, recosts every model and shows what would change before anything does. Moves under 3% are ignored, moves over 40% are held for review, and nothing reaches the shop without a second confirmation. The whole catalogue reprices in three commands from a phone.
Orders without context
A Shopify order said what was sold, not whether it was on the shelf or still had to be made.
Order alerts with a stock check
Every new Shopify order arrives on Telegram already checked against stock: on the shelf and ready to post, or needs making.
What it looks like
Real message formats, shortened. Order details and price moves are examples.

What the build uncovered
Moving the old sheets into one system surfaced errors that had sat there for years:
What changed.
The pattern
Any business whose costs move with a market price, such as gold, fuel, fabric or coffee, and whose stock is tracked in more than one place, has this problem. The fix is the same: one record of what's on hand, and prices that follow the cost automatically, with a human approving each change.
The stack
Python and SQLite: one file holds the business, with no cloud account or subscription
Telegram bot as the everyday interface
Shopify connection for the catalogue, stock and prices
Live Yerevan gold price feed
Exchange rates captured per transaction across EUR, USD, GBP and AMD
